All about DREWSHI (Well, not everything. We’ll leave out the fetishes—for now.) |

John S. Drew was born in Yonkers, NY, even though he lived most of his life in the Bronx. He’s not a Yankees fan or is he particular to any brand of gun. (A question he’s often asked by people outside of New York.) John has always wanted to write, ever since he was a young lad and noticed the names of the writers at the end of his favorite television shows. When he would play pretend with his siblings and friends, and they would argue over who was Captain Kirk, he would say he wanted to be the guy who put the words in their mouth. His influences include Gene Roddenberry, David Gerrold, and Kenneth Johnson. John is a voracious reader and an avid role player. For years John worked in the restaurant industry until the events of 9/11 made him realize he needed to do more than simply line the pockets of some corporate bigwigs. He went into teaching, something he was always interested in, but was hesitant to pursue. He returned to his alma mater, Cardinal Spellman High School, where he teaches English to ninth, tenth, and eleventh graders. He is also the moderator of the writers club and the writing magazine, The Writers Café. He recently took on the mantle of moderator for the school’s video club and newspaper, The Pilot. John has always loved science fiction and that is what he primarily writes. His short fiction works are currently all in the media tie-in universes of Spider-Man, Star Trek, and Doctor Who. He is also an avid audio drama enthusiast. He has written over a dozen audio dramas in both fan and professional milieus. He is currently producing his own series of audio dramas, The Dome. For four fantastic years, John produced a public access television series with author Keith R.A. DeCandido called The Chronic Rift. The series offered discussion on a number of topics in the science fiction and fantasy realms with both fan and professional alike. Together they produced 100 episodes and season one will be release shortly on DVD. John lives in Brewster, NY with his wife Susan; his two sons, Edward and Michael; their cat, Kelly; and a tank full of fish. When he’s not educating or writing, John likes to work on his house and garden. He also likes to collect old television series on DVD and prefers watching them to what is currently on television. John maintains a blog (Livejournal—drewshi) as well as keeping up appearances on Facebook and MySpace. He maintains a site for The Dome on MySpace as well.
